Pissouri and the surrounding areas of Cyprus

Situated between the popular resorts of Paphos and Limassol near the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, a side road wanders across the hills towards the sea. Shortly before reaching the beach below, it passes through the delightful village of Pissouri.

Pissouri offers it all for a most relaxing holiday. The unhurried pace of the village which has a beautiful central square, that can be enjoyed all the more as no cars are allowed to spoil the friendly atmosphere of the family run tavernas, which serve excellent food.

On Wednesday evenings the village square comes alive, when all the tavernas come together and hold their weekly traditional Cypriot Night, during the summer months.

The village has all the amenities, including banks, minimarket, bakers, and butchers. But please do not forget that shops often shut for siesta between 1pm and 3pm, but the tavernas and restaurants remain open.

For the more adventurous, you can take advantage of the variety of water sports that are available for hire at Pissouri Beach, or if you just want to relax, swim, sunbathe and just watch the day go by, sun lounges and umbrellas are available for hire.

You will find tavernas along the seafront, serving good food, local wines and beers. Pissouri Beach Road has supermarkets, shops, restaurants and tavernas.

Just a 30 minute drive from Pissouri heading east is the town of Limassol, there is always plenty to do here, and you can lose many an hour shopping and in the art galleries, restaurants and bars. A further 20 minute’s drive you will come to the cosmopolitan town of Paphos. Paphos is fast becoming the island’s most popular area. On the hill overlooking the sea, is the old town with its maze of winding streets, with a colourful indoor market.
